Welcome to CA Energy Savings. By accessing or using caenergysavings.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree with any part of these Terms, please don't use the Site.

• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate any person or entity
• Use automated tools (bots, crawlers beyond standard search engine crawlers) without our express permission

3. Calculator estimates and accuracy

The calculators on the Site provide estimates based on publicly available data, including utility rate schedules, rebate program details, federal and state tax credits, and typical equipment performance assumptions. These estimates are intended to give you a reasonable starting point for evaluating energy upgrade decisions.

However, actual results will vary depending on factors including:

• Your specific home's characteristics, including size, age, insulation, orientation, and shading
• Your specific utility account, rate plan, and usage patterns
• The specific equipment you purchase and install
• Contractor pricing, which varies significantly across California
• Timing of installation relative to rebate program funding availability
• Changes to rebate amounts, tax credits, or utility rates between calculator updates

We make reasonable efforts to keep calculator inputs accurate and current, but we don't guarantee that any specific estimate will match your actual experience. Always verify critical figures (current rebate amounts, your specific utility rates, program eligibility) with the original sources before making a financial decision.

4. Not professional advice

The content on this Site, including calculator results, guides, and articles, is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not:

• Professional energy consulting advice
• Engineering or contracting advice
• Tax, legal, or financial advice
• A substitute for consultation with licensed professionals

For decisions involving significant cost or complexity, consult appropriate licensed professionals, including HVAC contractors, electricians, solar installers, tax professionals, and your utility's free home energy advisor service.

5. Purchases and refunds

Buyer's Guides

The Site offers optional digital products (PDF buyer's guides) for purchase at the prices listed on the relevant calculator pages. Payment is processed by Stripe, and your purchase is subject to Stripe's terms in addition to ours.

After successful payment, you'll be redirected to a download page where the guide will download automatically. If you have trouble accessing your purchase, contact contact@caenergysavings.com with your Stripe receipt and we'll resend the file.

Refund policy

Because our guides are digital products delivered immediately upon purchase, all sales are generally final. However, if you experience a technical issue that prevents you from accessing your purchase, or if the content is significantly different from what was described, contact us at contact@caenergysavings.com within 14 days of purchase and we'll work with you on a resolution, which may include a refund at our discretion.

Pricing and availability

All prices are in U.S. dollars. We reserve the right to change pricing, suspend, or discontinue any product at any time without notice. Once a purchase is made, the price at the time of purchase applies.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the Site, including text, calculators, code, guides, graphics, logos, and design, is owned by CA Energy Savings or used with permission, and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may:

• View, share, and reference calculator results for personal use
• Share calculator pages and results on social media or with friends
• Quote brief excerpts of articles with attribution to caenergysavings.com

You may not, without prior written permission:

• Republish, redistribute, or repackage Site content on another website or commercial product
• Use Site content for commercial purposes
• Modify or create derivative works from Site content
• Reproduce or distribute purchased guides beyond personal use

7. User submissions

If you submit feedback, corrections, suggestions, or other content to us (whether by email or any other means), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use that content for any purpose, including improving the Site and its calculators, without obligation to compensate you or credit you.

You represent that any content you submit is your own, doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights, and doesn't contain confidential information of any third party.

8. Third-party links and services

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including utility company pages, government rebate program sites, manufacturer specifications, and reference databases. These links are provided for your convenience. We don't control or endorse these sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices.

The Site also relies on third-party services including Netlify (hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Google Fonts. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We don't warrant that:

• The Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Calculator estimates will match your actual results
• Rebate amounts, tax credits, or program details are current as of any specific date
• Any information on the Site is complete or suitable for your particular situation

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CA ENERGY SAVINGS AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO:

• Your use of, or inability to use, the Site
• Any reliance on calculator estimates, guides, or other Site content
• Financial decisions made based on Site content, including purchases of heat pumps, solar systems, EVs, or other equipment
• Rebate amounts that turn out to differ from what calculators indicated
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or communications
• Statements or conduct of any third party on the Site

If you're dissatisfied with the Site or any of its content, your sole and exclusive remedy is to stop using the Site. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the Site will not exceed the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months, or one hundred U.S. dollars, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CA Energy Savings and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Site ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you don't agree to the updated Terms, stop using the Site.
